Clemson, struggling with field goals, brings in kicker from campus

Clemson kicker Alex Spence (41) winds up for a field goal attempt during the second half of an NCAA college football game against Syracuse, Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, in Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse upset Clemson 27-24. A critical injury that was a bit overlooked at the time was when Clemson kicker Greg Huegel suffered a torn ACL during practice last month.

Big Ten Week 8 picks: Can Michigan contain Saquon Barkley, Penn State?

The second half of the season is underway as the Big Ten division races take shape. With sixth-ranked Ohio State and Nebraska off this week and headed in opposite directions, key games in the East and West are set for State College, Pennsylvania, and Evanston, Illinois. Can any team stand in the way of No. 5 Wisconsin’s bid to reach Indianapolis? It looks unlikely, but for Iowa faces a must-win game against Northwestern to get back in the conversation. Same story with No. 19 Michigan, as the league’s top defense meets a huge test against second-ranked Penn State and Heisman Trophy front-runner Saquon Barkley. With Georgia’s bye weekend upon us, what better time to hand out our own midseason awards. Seven games in, there have already been some memorable plays and players for the third-ranked and undefeated Bulldogs (7-0, 4-0), who face Florida next week in Jacksonville. See what you think: Offensive MVP: Nick Chubb – This is really the only choice as Chubb leads the Bulldogs and the SEC in rushing with 107 carries for 688 yards and eight touchdowns. Although he hasn’t had to be quite the workhorse with the presence of Sony Michel and D’Andre Swift also putting in great work, the school’s second all-time leading rusher has been excellent and well on his way to his third 1,000-yard rushing year. Big 12 Week 8 picks: Oklahoma schools face tough road tilts

Here are the Week 8 Big 12 picks from my colleague Sam Kahn Jr. and I (all times ET). Visit our college football PickCenter page for additional information on these games and many more. Oklahoma State at Texas, noon (ABC/WatchESPN) Khan: After an off week and a sizable win over Baylor, the Cowboys' offense is back on track. Oklahoma State 40, Texas 31. Trotter: Texas is getting better, and the Longhorns have a lot to be excited about in the future with quarterback Sam Ehlinger. But for Oklahoma State, the future is now. And no receiver duo in college football has been better than James Washington and Marcell Ateman, who each have produced 100 yards receiving in the Cowboys' past four games. Oklahoma
